make a CUTE CUPcake
This cute little felt cupcake has a wonderful smelling surprise in the centre – a little lavender bag! And you can get your lavender bag free from Joyful JAMS! It would also make a perfect pin cushion for any budding seamstress. We think they’d look particularly lovely topped with vintage buttons.
This cupcake make was inspired by our Pictures of You vignette Everything Stops for Tea. We love staying for a cuppa after a thirsty JAMS session and wanted to celebrate this great British institution, and what it means to us!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
• Felt - tan plus 2 x colours of your choice for the icing
• Fabric scissors
• Needle and embroidery thread or fabric glue or a glue gun
• Lavender bag no bigger than 9cm x 7cm (if you would like a free lavender bag get in touch with Clare, all you’ll have to pay is postage and packing)
• Stuffing
• Button
• Pins

INSTRUCTIONS
Download the cupcake template.
Place the arch-shaped template onto the tan felt, draw around it with a pencil and then cut it out.
Using the smaller and larger circle templates cut out one small tan felt circle and one larger one for the top and bottom of the cake.
You now have the three pieces that make up the body of the cupcake.
Place the template shapes labelled icing 1,2,3 onto your coloured felt, draw around them with a pencil and then cut them out. Use one colour for 1 and 3 and a contrasting colour for 2 (see our pic).
Take the largest tan circle and place the icing shapes in order of size on top of it. Then take the button and place it on top of the stack of 3 circles. Secure by sewing the button onto all the circle layers or glue each in turn.
Pin the tan felt arch shape and the smaller tan felt circle together to make the bottom and sides of the cupcake, then sew together using blanket stitch or you can glue it.
Add the stuffing and the lavender bag to the centre of your cupcake.
Add the larger tan felt circle with the icing to the top of your cupcake and sew in place to secure or you can glue it.
Squeeze to release the smell of the lavender and relax.
